Qualifying exams to study Abroad

For getting admission to different universities in abroad , the applicant has to clear the English language test exam as well as the other related standardized exams.
The exams are mentioned below which should be cleared before applying to any reputed University abroad.
 
 1. TOEFL (4 hrs.)-   US and Canada, while it is not accepted at many colleges in U.K.
 
 2. IELTS- (2hrs 45 mins) is the preferred exam for getting admission to Universities in U.K, Australia and New Zealand
 
 3. PTE- is accepted at a few colleges in U.S.A and most colleges in U.K.
 
 4. CAE and CPE are given preference by the British universities.
 
Standardized Exams:
 
The exams required for various courses will be different. Depending on the courses of your choice, you will be required to give only one standardized test.

GRE (Graduate Record Examination)
 
The GRE Exam is the world’s largest assessment program for graduate admissions. GRE Exam is a broad assessment of your critical thinking, analytical writing, verbal reasoning a quantitative reasoning.
 
GRE Test is divided into three main sections –
 
Analytical Writing Section: It consists of two sections and time limit is 60 minutes.
 
Verbal  Section:  It consists of two sections having 50 questions and time limit is 70 minutes. 
 
Quantitative Section:  It consists of two sections having 50 questions and time limit is 80 minutes.
 
Mode of Conducting GRE Test
 
GRE Test is conducted by ETS (Education Testing Service)
The two modes of conducting GRE Test are
  • Paper VersionIt consists of two verbal and two quantitative sections. Candidate has to answer two 30 minutes segments with 3 questions.
  • Computer VersionHere the candidate has to answer 28 questions in 45 minutes.
Eligibility:
GRE is one of the largest assessment programs for admission to graduate courses worldwide. There is no prescribed age limit or qualification required for candidate to appear for GRE.
 
Types of GRE:
 
There are basically two types of GRE:
 
GRE General Test : The GRE General Test takes into account verbal reasoning, quantitative ability and analytical writing skills.
 
GRE Subject Test: The GRE Subject Test measures the candidate’s achievement in a particular subject area.
The exam is conducted on a fixed date like an entrance exam. This test is required for specialized courses.
